Henry Learns the Truth

1961: It was dark by the time Henry arrived at Crewe. He was still wondering what his driver and fireman meant about Crewe being a terrible place for steam engines. "I'll finally find out what they both mean about Crewe." He said to himself as he got closer towards the yards. When he arrived and looked head of himself, he could not believe his eyes! The sights that Henry saw was so horrific, he was sure they would live with him forever. Line after line after line of steam engines all lined up rusting away in their cold damp sidings as far as the eye could see. As he puffed along, he could hear some of them sobbing quietly and could sence that he was being watched by those engines from the sidings. Henry now knew what this could mean for all of them. They have been sent for scrap. "What have they done to this place!?" He cried. "I thought Crewe was a place for steam engines to be repaired, not a place for them to be scrapped!" His driver sighed. "I'm afraid it's the way of the world, old boy." He said. "The new directors of British Railways are modernizing the country by replacing steam engines with new diesel engines. Damn that Dr. Beeching! he's a murderer to steam engines and gets those diesels to do his dirty work!" Henry's heart sank heavily as a small tear fell from his eye. He had been repaired at Crewe many years ago, but he still couldn't understand why the engines are being scrapped here. All these terrible questions played on his mind as soon as he arrived at the big station. There are some things that not even they can explain...

This is another sprite picture I had been thinking about making nearly all week. We all know how Henry was given a new shape at Crewe many years ago, but no one told him that Crewe was a place of damnation and despair for steam engines that are being cut up thanks to the Modernization Plan being carried out.

I'm gonna take a huge break from making Thomas themed stuff in a little while, so I can get back to some more MLP and Sonic stuff and hopefully get drawing with Paint Tool Sai. XP
